Evergreen Design
Evergreen is supposed to mean the content in question is potentially good for five years without updates.
Of course, things can change and make something suddenly and unexpectedly obsolete, but if you are running a micro business and not shooting for evergreen information, you are in practice taking time away from other things you need to do to be earning money and making your business a success.
One of the big mistakes inexperienced people make is they feel like the website needs constant fresh content to be any good. That's true if you run something like Reddit and the website is the product. It's not true if you are merely using the site as a kind of online business card for hawking other wares.
This misconception is likely a large factor in small, local establishments sticking with things like Facebook. And they probably do so much to their detriment and the detriment of the business.
In my experience, people who aren't part of the tech industry typically have absolutely no idea what kind of information will be a bottomless hole draining their time and energy and what will not be. And they seem to be focused on social engagement as their metric for success of their online presence rather than things like saving them time and money or making them money.
This work for hire by me has never been updated:
It's still gorgeous and likely still serves the business needs of the artist in question just as well as the day I made it.
You're business website doesn't need to be a constantly changing panoply of entertainment if you aren't trying to make money via entertaining people online, which is basically the goal of sites like Reddit and Facebook. People may even find that aggravating if it interferes with them readily finding the information they want or need about products or services they are seeking.
It needs to be accurate and useful to your prospective customers for determining if your wares or services are likely to work for them.
Business writing for communicating your value position is an art in its own right. I wrote hundreds of pieces like that while working very part time as a freelance writer for some years and received instruction and training in the process of working for a writing service.
If you are running a micro business and imagining you write just fine and can handle it yourself, you probably have no idea what is involved in that kind of writing.
